5 Steps to Becoming the Best Version of YOU

5 Steps to Becoming the Best Version of YOU

The struggle is real.

Trust us, we know. Some days are better than others, of course. Nobody is perfect and more often than not, it takes a lot of energy to simply change your mindset throughout the course of the day. Everyone struggles with exercise, no matter who you are, what you do or how ‘healthy’ you may seem. Sometimes, it takes a little more than just a push - and that’s perfectly normal too.

Instead of listing the benefits and why you should actually make the effort to, we’ve come up with a few tips and tricks to ease the struggle. When you’re down in the dumps and don’t feel like it - always remember: Done is better than perfect.

1. Set achievable goals

We sometimes get carried away by the possibility of achieving something unfeasible. Although it is possible to lose 20kg in a month, that would probably require a lot of time, effort and energy that you may not have as a working adult. Instead of leading with ultimate goals, take the time to craft out milestones that are within your means. This could be as simple as cutting down on carbs, or walking an extra 2,000 steps a day.

By setting achievable goals for the immediate future, you would definitely be more encouraged as you go along, especially when you see yourself reaching all the milestones that you’ve set.

2. Create a plan of action

Once you’ve set your goals, it’s time for some action! Center your workouts around your comfort level and what you actually want to achieve. Sign up for classes that would benefit you, start on meal-prep and if possible, let someone else know of your plans. Not only would they be able to hold you accountable for your actions, they could also be an additional source of information and motivation to achieve your goals

3. Don’t be a perfectionist

Although there are certain exercises that require a particular set of skills or more precise movements, you don’t have to do it perfectly. Especially for beginners, trying out a new routine means ensuring that you do it safely and comfortably. Grant yourself some time to warm up to the new movements and always keep in mind that you’re constantly learning and improving.

Sign up for classes with other beginners to make yourself feel more at ease, or get your friends on for the ride! Nothing beats companionship - it’ll make everything more fun (and entertaining) too!

4. Always ask for help

You should never be shy or afraid to ask for help. Similar to the previous point, it helps to remember that you’re always learning and improving yourself. You might surprise yourself with the number of people who’d be willing to help - all you have to do is ask!

5. Rest

If there’s anything that you should take from this article - it should be that rest is essential and important to improving yourself. As much as effort is needed to achieve your goals, resting plays a key role too. We’ve all heard about burnout and how it can affect your mental and physical state, so take care of yourself and make it a point to take a break once in awhile.

The struggle will always be real, but we hope that you’ll be able to take steps to overcome it once you’ve gotten the hang of things. Press on, Glow Getters!
